A bonfire in the dark

Alone she traveled, ages went by, no living things were seen. She walked along the stream, river of the damned, from time to time you could see the memories of lost souls bubbling to the surface, but they would sunk as fast as they rose. Sadness was her only companion, and the silence was endless. One evening, before the sun had set, ahead she saw a gleaming light, bonfire in the dark. She came across something that was neither man nor beast, hooded creature with antlers and hooves, but with an aura of humanity. Carefully she approached, the creature did not seem to notice, she asked for a place around the fire, slowly and quietly the creature nodded. And so they sat, silent, only sounds the crackling of the fire and the beating of their hearts.
